技術摘要:
光觸媒經由可見光照射,而產生光生電子電洞對。其中的光電子與電解質啟光電化學還原反應;電洞則與電解質發生光電化學氧化反應,最後用以發電。
Our contribution focuses on the union of two distinct, although related energy technologies, namely the fuel cell and the solar cell, similar to the two photosystems PSI and PSII in photosynthesis, to form a “solar fuel cell”. The hybrid architecture is inspired by a natural leaf and elegantly avoids the use of membrane and mediating substances. Oxygen and hydrogen derived from water splitting in the photoelectrodes of the device are consumed directly by the fuel cell electrodes and generate electricity as the sole end-product. The compact system is thus self-conservative with the sunlight or visible light as the only energy source. We believe that the system presented opens the door to a new era of discovery in which nature inspired scientific approaches facilitate the conversion of harvesting solar energy into chemical energy and then to electricity. Both fuel cell and solar cell technology share advantages like easy scale-up, environmental friendliness and sustainability. The interesting concept not only can be applied in biological or energy fields, but also could appeal to readers with non-technical or scientific background.
